“We can’t negotiate the reconciliation bill down to nothing”

Speaker of the House Nancy Pelosi is telling her Democratic members decide which cuts to make to the $3.5 trillion reconciliation package — get the plan down to whatever it takes to make Senator Joe Manchin of West Virginia and Senator Kyrsten Sinema of Arizona happy.

Eight New York Democrats on Tuesday, including Representative Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez, issued a warning to House Speaker Nancy Pelosi and Senate Majority Leader Chuck Schumer: Don’t cut funding for housing, transportation, or immigration reform from the emerging reconciliation bill in an attempt to appease right-wing lawmakers.

“We can’t negotiate the reconciliation bill down to nothing,” Ocasio-Cortez tweeted.
