When You’ve Been Exposed You Can’t Cover Up What’s Been Laid Bare

When Speaker of the House of Representatives Nancy Pelosi refused on Wednesday to seat Republican Reps. Jim Jordan of Ohio and Jim Banks of Indiana on the Committee to investigate the 6 January attack on the U.S. Capitol, minority leader Kevin McCarthy proved once again that he is not the brightest political bulb nor is he the American patriot that he pretends to be; not that anyone who knows Washington politics would ever think of McCarthy as a patriotic American with the courage to do what is required to save our fragile democracy.

The only reason McCarthy picked Jordan and Banks is to make sure they sabotaged the mission of the Committee, by any means necessary. So, in response to Speaker Pelosi’s decision, McCarthy pulled all five  Republicans he had submitted.

Republican Rep. Liz Cheney of Wyoming, appointed to the Committee by Pelosi and therefore not one of the five Republicans pulled by McCarthy, said she agrees with the Speaker’s decision. “This investigation must go forward. The idea that anybody would be playing politics with an attack on the United States Capitol is despicable and disgraceful”.

Cheney also accused McCarthy of trying to “prevent” Americans from knowing the truth of how the Capitol attack occurred:

“The American people deserve to know what happened. The people who did this must be held accountable, it must be an investigation that is sober and gets to the facts. At every turn the minority leader has tried to get the people not to know what happened”.

McCarthy included Jordan and Banks because both are long-time radical Trump allies and both were among the 139 House Republicans who voted against certifying Joe Biden’s election victory – on the very day Trump’s armed domestic terrorists attacked the U.S. Capitol, their own House!

Additionally, Jordan was Trump’s right hand man in plotting events leading up to and on 6 January 2020. And Banks, two days before Pelosi’s decision to not seat the American traitors, had released a statement blaming the Biden administration for its response to the attack on the Capitol, which took place, as the whole world knows, during the Trump administration!

To certainly further terrify McCarthy, Jordan and Banks, Chairman of the Committee, Representative Bennie Thompson, Democrat from Mississippi, said that “nothing is off limits” as the investigation moves forward and that Trump “absolutely” will be a part of the Committee’s deep dive into events of 6 January. And, Thompson said he is also prepared ‘to depose members of Congress and senior Trump administration officials who might have participated in the insurrection that left five dead and nearly 140 injured’.
