Like or dislike Jim Acosta, or CNN, this is about more than one reporter, more than one news organization. A Free Press is essential to our Democracy. A president or anyone in his/her cabinet or White House staff cannot be allowed to dictate what is news and who gets to report the news.
The Press is supposed to have an adversarial relationship with the Government.
It is supposed to act as Watchdog.
It is supposed to uncover abuse of power in all its forms and report it to the People.
That’s its Mandate.
When election results on 6 November 2024 showed Donald Trump had won the Presidency, for me it was like getting punched in the face, repeatedly. I mean – repeatedly!
