At the Helsinki press conference, Putin was asked if he wanted Trump to be US president. Putin said yes!

Reuters reporter Jeff Mason asked Putin, “Did you want President Trump to win the election and did you direct any of your officials to help him do that?”
Putin answered: “Yes, I did. Yes, I did. Because he talked about bringing the U.S.-Russia relationship back to normal.”
The first part of that question – where Mason asks about wanting Trump to win – is edited out of the official White House transcript of the presser.
