12 Repubs Vote Against Police

No Honour

Twelve Republican members of the United States House of Representatives voted this week against a resolution to honour police with the Congressional Gold Medal for their actions during the deadly riot and insurrection at the U.S. Capitol on 6 January 2021.

The Gold Medal is Congress’ “highest expression of national appreciation for distinguished achievements and contributions”.

The House resolution awards the medal to the Capitol Police and to the Metropolitan Police Department of Washington, DC. It was passed 413-12. The Republicans who voted NO said they didn’t like some of the words in the resolution; words like mob, riot, insurrection.

The 12 NO votes were:

Louie Gohmert, Texas

Michael Cloud, Texas

Lance Gooden, Texas

Marjorie Taylor Greene, Georgia

Andrew Clyde, Georgia;

Matt Gaetz, Florida

Greg Steube, Florida

Andy Biggs, Arizona

Thomas Massie, Kentucky

Andy Harris, Maryland

Bob Good, Virginia

John Rose, Tennessee

All those who voted NO, except for Thomas Massie of Kentucky, also voted NO to state’s electoral votes in the presidential election in the hours after the insurrection.

Remember these names when you receive mailers from them asking for your money to get reelected because they’re real patriots and oh so horourable supporters of police.
