‘Ohio saw through the con’: abortion rights advocates celebrate Issue 1 result
Ohioans unequivocally rejected a ballot measure [Issue 1] that would have raised the threshold for amending their state constitution, a move by Republicans to try to make it harder to legalize abortion at the ballot box.
The no vote prevailed 57% to 43% with over 3 million votes cast, according to unofficial results. About 58,000 absentee and provisional ballots were outstanding as of Wednesday.

While We celebrate with The People of Ohio who fought hard for Democracy and its One Person One Vote victory last night, let us not forget about the monster that is the right-wing majority in the U.S. Supreme Court.
The Court’s six ultra-Conservative justices have proven over and over and over they will do whatever it takes to erase that one line from the Constitution – We The People.

Women Can Avoid Pregnancy With Sexual Abstinence, Texas Law Creator Preaches In Brief
“Women can ‘control their reproductive lives’ without access to abortion; they can do so by refraining from sexual intercourse”, Jonathan Mitchell, former Texas solicitor general.
The key architect of the radical new Texas anti-abortion law has argued in a U.S. Supreme Court brief that women can avoid pregnancy by simply avoiding sex.
No “sexual intercourse”, no conception, wrote former Texas solicitor general Jonathan Mitchell in a brief submitted to the U.S. Supreme Court.
The stunning argument was presented by attorney Jonathan Mitchell in a friend-of-the-court brief this summer supporting a restrictive Mississippi law denying women the right to an abortion after 15 weeks of pregnancy. The brief also argued that Roe v. Wade should be overruled.

The Not So Supreme Court
