They Didn’t Like The Rule of Law or Constitutions, Either. Until, Of Course, It Was Their Rules and Laws
Posted 2022.09.07
During his recent prime time speech outside Independence Hall in Philadelphia on September 1, President Joe Biden revived his campaign mantra – ‘Battle For The Soul of The Nation’.
But on that warm Thursday evening in Philly, Biden went beyond campaign slogans, quickly getting to the soul of the matter; the most dangerous threat to the United States of America: The rise of fascism within our own borders.
As I stand here tonight, equality and democracy are under assault. We do ourselves no favor to pretend otherwise.
For a long time, we’ve reassured ourselves that American democracy is guaranteed. But it is not. We have to defend it. Protect it. Stand up for it. Each and every one of us.
And here, in my view, is what is true: MAGA Republicans do not respect the Constitution. They do not believe in the rule of law. They do not recognize the will of the people.
About a week earlier, in obviously a warm up for the Independence Hall speech, President Biden called the ‘MAGA Republicans’ semi-fascists, which set off almost comical responses from Republicans and their right-wing media outlets and pundits.
How dare he, they ranted. How dare he call insurrectionists, domestic terrorists, instigators of violence, election-deniers, anti-democracy sycophants, hucksters, hacks and hypocrites, ‘semi-fascists’!
You know, I agree. How dare he call them ‘semi’. These people are full-on fascists; there’s nothing semi about them.
If one were to take a good look at their playbook it soon becomes quite clear it has been copied from a time not that long ago.
For example…

Asylum-Republicans: Agenda ’23 and Beyond
Yes, of course, we lead with the latest shit-story about that Republican member of the U.S. House of Representatives, Marjorie Taylor Greene.
A guest speaker at the Young Republicans gala this weekend, Greene reminded us all why the Republican Party – Young and Old – has become the clear and present danger to democracy as foundation to the United States of America:
“I want to tell you something, if Steve Bannon and I had organized that, [the January 6 attack on the Capitol] we would have won.”
The Rep from Georgia continued, to cheers from the smallish crowd: “Not to mention, we would’ve been armed.”
To make it even more clear, to erase any doubt as to mission, the president of the Young Republican group, Gavin Wax, without hesitation shouted:
“We want to cross the Rubicon. We want total war. We must be prepared to do battle in every arena. In the media. In the courtroom. At the ballot box. And in the streets.”
Let us also not forget that the former guy and 2024 presidential candidate has called for the Termination of The U.S. Constitution.
It is, then, not difficult at all to imagine what is to come when Republicans take control of the House next month.
Somewhere on the agenda, and probably soon rather than later, the House will impeach President Biden. And that particular Republican game will go on and on – Impeach, Impeach, Impeach becomes Benghazi, Benghazi. Benghazi. Why, you ask? Well, let’s see… Could it be that Joe Biden “stole” the election from their Fuhrer? How about because President Biden hasn’t built a southern border wall to keep brown people out of the United White States of Amerika? Or is it because President Biden made a trade with Russia for a Black female basketball player?
I know, I know! I haven’t forgotten Hunter Biden’s laptop. Nor have I forgotten putting Hilary Clinton in jail.
While some of this can make one laugh, or go nuts, the far right Asylum-Republicans are as serious as Nurse Ratched.
Their taxpayer-funded menu for ’23 and beyond includes investigations, investigations, investigations – and then more investigations. No choices on policy issues to help make American’s lives better in any way, shape or form, but citizens will get plenty investigations to digest; some will, of course, over gorge, enjoying every last morsel, while others will have to endure random bouts of vomiting.
Led by sycophant extraordinaire Rep. Jim Jordan of Ohio, who is set to become chair of the House Judiciary Committee, the investigations will include:

Good luck, United States of America.

Victories Help Build Firewall for Elections in 2024 and Beyond
This Cycle, Stand Up America’s Members Took Millions of Actions in Support of Democracy Defenders and Ballot Initiatives Across the Country
WASHINGTON — Last night, democracy defenders defeated MAGA election deniers in key races across the country, delivering a significant rebuke of Trumpism. Incumbent Secretary of State candidates who protected the will of the people in 2020 were reelected in Michigan and Minnesota, and democracy champions defended the governorships of Michigan, Pennsylvania, and Wisconsin and flipped Pennsylvania’s seat in the U.S. Senate.
Michiganders passed Proposal 2, a constitutional amendment to protect the freedom to vote and depoliticize the process of certifying election results.
Stand Up America’s President and Founder, Sean Eldridge, issued the following statement on tonight’s election results:
“This election was a significant rebuke of MAGA extremism and election deniers. Voters sent a powerful message that our elected leaders must protect our fundamental freedoms, including the right to an abortion and the freedom to choose our own leaders. From Pennsylvania to Minnesota, voters elected democracy champions up and down the ballot.
“We’re proud of the work that Stand Up America’s members did to oppose MAGA Republicans and support democracy champions across the country. Our members wrote hundreds of thousands of handwritten letters to voters, sent millions of texts, and submitted thousands of letters to the editor to educate their fellow Americans about what was at stake in this election.
“However, our work is not done. Our democracy is not out of the woods yet. With Republicans favored to take control of the House, we’re going to face escalating right-wing attacks on the Biden administration, on the rule of law, and on our elections. And with a divided Congress, our local and state advocacy to protect the freedom to vote and free and fair elections across the country will be more important than ever. With our 2 million democracy defenders and our track record of running dozens of local, state, and federal advocacy campaigns, we’re well-positioned to meet the moment and continue to defend democracy in 2023 and beyond.”
This cycle, Stand Up America mobilized its 2 million members across the country and made a seven-figure investment in the 2022 midterm elections to build a firewall for 2024 and beyond—including by electing democracy champions to Secretary of State offices in Michigan, Minnesota, Arizona, and Nevada, and helping to pass ballot initiatives like Proposal 2 in Michigan.
Across the county, Stand Up America’s community members sent more than 250,000 letters to their fellow Americans, texted over 2 million voters, volunteered for nearly 5,500 shifts, and submitted more than 6,000 letters to the editors in support of democracy defenders and key ballot initiatives. Stand Up America’s digital ads contrasting Secretary of State candidates and registering voters in target states reached over 30 million voters.
