For a week now, the music industry press – now, as well, cable and network outlets – have been going bat-shit crazy over comments by Paul McCartney about the Rolling Stones during a sit down with The New Yorker magazine.
The former Beatle started the firestorm when he said:
“I’m not sure I should say it, but they’re a blues cover band, that’s sort of what the Stones are”.
Yeah, ya probably should not have gone there.
But this was not the first time McCartney stepped in it when expressing how he ‘truly’ feels about the Stones. In 2020 on the Howard Stern Show, McCartney said straight out “the Beatles were better”.
When asked about McCartney’s comments on the Stern show, the Stones front man Mick Jagger made the not so subtle and painfully obvious statement:
“One band is unbelievably luckily still playing in stadiums, and then the other band doesn’t exist”.
Too busy currently touring to sold out stadiums, no one from the Stones has yet to comment on McCartney’s latest jealously-motivated plea ‘love me more’.
