Reporters Without Borders
2021 World Press Freedom Index
The United States moved up one spot in the 2021 World Press Freedom Index, from 45th to 44th. That’s 45th out of 180. What an achievement!
Taking up the bottom spot is Eritrea and coming in at 179th is the former guy’s good friend, North Korea.
The top six spots go to perennial leaders of press freedom Norway, Finland, Sweden, Denmark, Costa Rica and Netherlands.
The United States for years has remained in such company as Romania at 48th, Tonga at 46th and Taiwan at 43rd.
It is remarkable by any measure that a country that advertises itself as the leader of the free world, and the model of democracy, to be languishing in such dangerous territory.
It’s old but it’s true: A Free Press means a Free Nation.
