New York’s Next Gov

“I will fight like hell for you every single day”

Well, Thanks Gov.

Lieutenant Governor Kathy Hochul officially will be New York’s first female Governor, in 13 days or sooner.

Yesterday, as the world knows, Andrew Cuomo announced his resignation. That stunner came on the heals of the press briefing on 3 August by New York Attorney General Latitia James during which she stated that sexual harassment allegations by 11 women against the Governor were found to be with merit. The NYAG investigation compiled a 168-page report detailing the sexual harassment allegations against Cuomo.

In her first public remarks on Wednesday in the wake of Cuomo’s announcement, Hochul told New Yorkers that “I will fight like hell for you every single day” and “No one will ever describe my administration as a toxic work environment”.

Hochul said she will be ready on day one as governor to begin the task of getting New York back on the right path. Elected officials on both sides of the isle have said they are looking forward to working with her.

Kathy Hochul calls herself an independent Democrat, whatever that means. She was born and raised in the Buffalo area and comes from a working class Irish Catholic family. Before becoming New York’s Lt. Governor in 2018 she held various elected offices, including: the Hamburg Town Board, a town outside Buffalo; Erie County Clerk; and in a 2011 congressional special election won in a heavily Republican district.

She lost the seat in 2012 when the district was redrawn.
