OK, Now Give Up Hope

The attempt to include Senator Bernie Sander’s minimum wage amendment in the Covid relief bill was killed in the Senate, again.

We already know that all Republicans in both chambers of Congress think low-wage American workers struggling to survive should continue to suffer as much as possible but now we know that not so few ‘moderate’ Democrats in the Senate as well would like 32 million American workers to suffer.

The 8 Right-Wing Democratic senators who think you’re making too much money on minimum wage:

Joe Manchin – West Virginia.

Kyrsten Sinema – Arizona.

Tom Carper – Delaware.

Chris Coons – Delaware.

Angus King – Maine.

Maggie Hassan – New Hampshire.

Jeanne Shaheen – New Hampshire.

Jon Tester – Montana.

Following Friday’s vote, Senator Sanders released a statement; reading in part:

“at a time when millions of people are working for starvation wages, when the minimum wage of $7.25 an hour has not been raised by Congress since 2007, when the president of the United States and the House of Representatives support it, it is absolutely imperative that the Senate approve an increase in the minimum wage to $15 an hour.”

Sanders also posted on Twitter:

If any Senator believes this is the last time they will cast a vote on whether or not to give a raise to 32 million Americans, they are sorely mistaken. We’re going to keep bringing it up, and we’re going to get it done because it is what the American people demand and need. – Bernie Sanders (@SenSanders) March 5, 2021
