So stunned by Donald Trump’s latest attack on our democracy (Trump Reportedly Floated Michael Flynn’s “Martial Law” Suggestion During White House Meeting), top U.S. Army brass felt it necessary to immediately issue a joint statement reminding Trump and his treasonous (Utah GOP Rep Downplays Trump’s Talk Of Using Martial Law To Overturn Election) lackeys about the U.S. Constitution:
Army Secretary Ryan McCarthy and Chief of Staff General James McConville, there “is no role for the U.S. military in determining the outcome of an American election.”
However, Trump made very clear early on his views of our democracy and Constitution. In July 2016, at the Republican National Convention, candidate Donald Trump declared that it was he alone who could fix America’s problems big and small. Trump ranted to applause: “I alone can fix it” (Authoritarian Guide To Power: “I alone can fix it”).
As the whole world has witnessed, this would not be Trump’s only attack on our democracy nor the only time he would ‘wish’ away that annoying little Constitution of the United States of America.
Here are (just) a few other instances revealing Trump’s views of our democracy and Constitution:
