The Warnings: Vote Like Our Democracy Depends On It

Former Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff, former National Security Advisor, former Secretary of State Colin Powell said Sunday that the current president ‘has drifted away from the constitution’.

“We have a Constitution and we have to follow that Constitution and the president has drifted away from it,” said Powell, a Republican, during an appearance on CNN.

Powell, the latest (former) 4-Star General to speak out against Trump’s actions, served most recently as Secretary of State for President George W. Bush; he served as Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff for Presidents George H.W. Bush and Bill Clinton; he served as National Security Advisor to President Ronald Reagan.

Added note: Colin Powell’s 13 Rules of Leadership

1. It ain’t as bad as you think.
2. Get mad, then get over it.
3. Avoid having your ego so close to your position that when your position falls, your ego goes with it.
4. It can be done.
5. Be careful what you choose. You may get it.
6. Don’t let adverse facts stand in the way of a good decision.
7. You can’t make someone else’s choices.
8. Check small things.
9. Share credit.
10. Remain calm. Be kind.
11. Have a vision.
12. Don’t take counsel of your fears or naysayers.
13. Perpetual optimism is a force multiplier.

Added note: Unfortunately for our democracy, not one of these rules does the current occupant of the Oval Office comprehend.
