REPOST: The Extremely Dangerous ‘What If…’

In March of 2019, Mehdi Hasan writes in his article at The Intercept about the possible scenario where Donald Trump is impeached or defeated in the 2020 election and refuses to leave office. Hasan isn’t doing a just-for-laughs and likes piece but offers a stern warning to all Americans.

Hasan:

“This is not a drill, and there is no reason to believe Trump will go quietly if he is defeated. There is every reason, however, to believe he and his allies will incite hysteria and even violence. Those who assume otherwise haven’t been paying attention.”

The March warning was amplified Tuesday night when Trump tweeted that the constitutionally legal impeachment inquiry of his actions is a ‘coup’. That language by the sitting president of The United States of America should ring loud the alarm bells in every sector of our embattled nation.

When Trita Parsi, executive vice president of the Quincy Institute, read Trump’s ‘coup’ tweet, shocked, he posted one of his own:

“…the logical conclusion of this nonsensical statement is that the military should step in, save Trump, and arrest Trump’s political opponents.”

“Let that sink in,” added Parsi.

Indeed.
