Vladimir Putin is not happy with the way his unprovoked war on Ukraine is going; not happy in terms of how Ukrainians are not surrendering even as the Russian dictator expands his murderous campaign against civilian populations, including hospitals, child-care centres, high-rise apartment complexes and shopping malls.
Putin also is not happy with his own intelligence agency and has had agency officials arrested. For years it has been reported that Putin is responsible for the imprisonment and deaths of political rivals and those wanting a changed Russia. And now, thousands of Russian citizens protesting Putin’s war have been arrested.
Russia’s ‘government’ has made protesting illegal, unless, of course, the protests are in favor of Putin’s unprovoked war on Ukraine. Putin, not surprisingly, is following an old Soviet-style playbook devised by a former like-minded paranoid-psychopath-leader.

Joseph Stalin, real name Ioseb Dzhugashvili, leader of world Communism and murderous paranoid psychopath, early on thought himself to be The One – ‘chosen’ to some day take his place as supreme leader of the entire world.
Of course, any chosen one must have the name. So Ioseb changed his: the made up name combines Russian for ‘steel’, stal, with ‘Lenin’ – thus, after the Russian Revolution, Ioseb Dzhugashvili became Joseph Stalin.
Stalin’s playbook, devised to showcase the greatness of ‘communism in one country’, led to large segments of the Soviet Union being terrorised with ever increasing measures, from Gulags (work camps), to show trials demonstrating to the Soviet population what could happen if they didn’t fall in line, to assassinations.
Additionally, the paranoid psychopath consolidated his power with what became known as the Great Purges – the above measures used against his political and ideological opponents.
But that wasn’t enough for Stalin; he had his eye on Ukraine.
Most Ukrainians would not lay down for Stalin so he ‘orchestrated’ a massive famine. The Holodomor – ‘murder by starvation’, the state-engineered famine in (Soviet) Ukraine in 1932-33 which killed close to four million people. Stalin also set about to eliminate Ukrainian cultural and social elites and the political class.
By the end of his murderous reign, Stalin was responsible for the death of as many as 40 million people – within the borders of the Soviet Union.

‘Former U.S. President Donald Trump and former U.S. Secretary of State Mike Pompeo praised Russian President Vladimir Putin’s strategy in Ukraine. Pompeo, in a February 18, 2022 interview, said Putin is “very shrewd, very capable. I have enormous respect for him” and referred to the Russian president as a “elegantly sophisticated counterpart.” Trump referred to Putin’s strategy in Ukraine as “genius,” and wished Putin’s “peacekeeper” forces could be used on the United States’ Southern border’.
