According to a news report from The Guardian, Russian president Vladimir Putin launched a secret multi-agency effort to interfere in U.S. democracy with the goal of putting Donald Trump in the White House.
The report, using what appears to be leaked Russian documents, details that a meeting took place on 22 January 2016 at the Kremlin, “with the Russian president, his spy chiefs and senior ministers all present. They agreed a Trump White House would help secure Moscow’s strategic objectives, among them ‘social turmoil’ in the U.S. and a weakening of the American president’s negotiating position”.
